Edinburgh is expensive, but also free!

Have you visited Edinburgh recently?
If you have, you’ll have noticed that it’s getting super expensive. It’s expensive to stay, eat out or go to any of the tourist sites.
It’s becoming one of the most popular destinations in Europe, so I guess this was inevitable.
As a local though, it’s the free things I enjoy most, and I wanted to share this with you, or your friends, who may be considering coming to Edinburgh in the near future. Please share this with anyone who might find it useful.
So I put together the below video and this blog post to give you a breakdown of some of my favourite free things to do in the city.

The best things about Edinburgh have always been the free things: the people, the scenery, the nature and the weather.
That last part was a joke.
But seriously, you can spend hours walking around the Royal Mile, enjoying the historic closes and buildings, or take a wander down to Princes Street Gardens, or even Greyfrier’s Kirkyard if that’s your thing.
Meanwhile, we have a bunch of world-class museums in the city, and they are all totally free!
I hope you’re enjoying the Scotland content - I’ve got a lot more to share here in this newsletter, the Dreaming of Scotland website, and on the YouTube channel.

People like graveyards because our history is in those grounds or crypts. Americans like me enjoy pondering who people were and even try to trace our ancestry. I liked Greyfriar's Kirkyard. I would like to travel to Scotland again.
Would love to see Edinburgh someday! But first I must move to France, to get a sailing job in Dec, after that I'll save up to go in 2025.
